Frat Beach 2024
It depends on who you ask whether Frat Beach (Friday, Oct. 30) will be business as usual this year or somewhat quieter or not at all. But Glynn County doesn’t have the luxury of assuming anything and County Manager Bill Fallon and his staff are planning for the usual crowd at Frat Beach. “We aren’t sure what we will see,” Fallon said recently, “but we are prepared.”
“Reports that STRs (short term rentals) are down about 60%,” he said. “But I don’t know if that will affect us or not.”
What Fallon is concerned about is the 8.3 ft. tide at noon which will leave very little beach for the crowds to gather. “It will work in our favor as it begins to go out but it will be coming in all morning.”
“We are hoping to get the kids to congregate at the Driftwood Crossover,” he said.
Emergency vehicles will be set up in the Coast Guard Station Beach Parking lot as usual. Glynn County Police and Public Works Departments, Glynn County Fire Rescue and Recreation and Parks Department are working with Southeast Georgia Health System, Dept. of Natural Resources, and the Glynn County Sheriff to keep everyone safe.
Volunteers with Keep Golden Isles Beautiful will be on scene early Saturday, Oct. 31 for a beach sweep. To volunteer
