State Senator Hodges announces health issue

State Sen. Mike Hodges (R-Brunswick) has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and is undergoing treatment, according to an announcement from the legislator’s office.

“Although this was news no family wants to experience, we have faced it together with faith, strength and gratitude for the care and encouragement we have received,” Hodges said. “I have visited and consulted with some of the nation’s best cancer care institutions and specialists to confirm my diagnosis and the best course of care. Based on their guidance, I began a treatment regimen that has proven to be of net benefit, so I am moving forward with hope and determination.”

Hodges emphasized that because of his positive response to treatment, he will continue fulfilling his responsibilities and serving the people of Southeast Georgia while receiving cancer care.

“My commitment to the people of District 3 remains as strong as ever,” Hodges said. “While I could never know what the future holds, I will continue working on behalf of our communities and addressing the issues that matter most to the citizens I am honored to represent. This diagnosis does not change my dedication as a public servant nor my resolve to stand up for what is right.”

Hodges said he and his family are taking the treatment process one step at a time. He also expressed appreciation for the prayers and messages of encouragement they have received.

“Southeast Georgia is my home, and I care deeply about this special place and its people,” Hodges said. “My family and I are sincerely grateful for your prayers, understanding and continued support. We are encouraged by the kindness shown to us, and we remain hopeful, strong and resilient.”

A longtime Glynn County resident, Hodges is serving his second term in the Georgia State Senate and is unopposed in the November general election. Throughout his time in office, he has focused on representing the interests of coastal and rural communities across Southeast Georgia.

State Senate District 3 includes the counties of Brantley, Camden, Charlton, Glynn, McIntosh and portions of Ware.
