The Brunswick Downtown Development Authority (DDA) has contracted with EMC Engineering Services, Inc. for a preliminary engineering report as well as design and construction drawings for improvements to the properties at 1200 and 1240 Glynn Avenue (properties that include Marshside Restaurant). The engineering contract is for $225,000.
The DDA leases the properties from the city and is responsible for maintenance and improvements to the properties.
The planned project will include seawall additions and improvements, stormwater infrastructure, parking lot resurfacing and reconstruction of the dock on the eastern side of the property.
To pay for the estimated $840,000 project, DDA is applying for an Economic Development Administration (EDA) Disaster Supplemental Grant Program grant which supports economic recovery activities in areas that received major disaster declarations in 2023 and 2024.
The Glynn Avenue properties suffered damage from Hurricane Helene in 2024.
One of the grant application requirements is a preliminary engineering report.
The DDA is responsible for 20% of the project’s total cost which will come from the property’s rental fees.
