Brunswick Police Dept. schedules Citizens Academy

The Brunswick Police Department invites community members to participate in its 2026 Citizens Academy which will provide an opportunity to learn more about the department, its operations, and the work officers do to serve and protect the City of Brunswick community.

The Citizens Academy will be held every Thursday from September 10 through October 15, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Marshes of Glynn Libraries, 208 Gloucester St., in Conference Room B.

Throughout the academy, participants will gain insight into the various responsibilities and services provided by Brunswick Police, as well as the opportunity to ask questions and connect with officers and staff. The program welcomes prospective Citizen Observer Program participants, clergy and faith leaders, community members, and anyone interested in gaining a better understanding of the department and its role in the community.

“This is an opportunity to build relationships with community members, foster open dialogue, answer questions, and work together to identify ways we can continue keeping our community safe. We also hope to inspire participants to become more involved through our volunteer opportunities, such as the Citizen Observer Program and Chaplain Program.” said Chief Angela Smith.
