The Ashantilly Center will hold its Annual Ice Cream Churn-Off fundraiser on Sunday, September 6, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the historic Ashantilly Center, located at 15591 GA Highway 99 in Darien, GA.
The Ashantilly Center is seeking ice cream makers to participate in this year’s competition. Businesses, organizations, and individuals are encouraged to sign up and showcase their favorite homemade ice cream recipes and creative flavors. Everyone is welcome to compete. Visitors will enjoy sampling a variety of homemade ice creams while helping determine this year’s winners. A panel of judges will award the Judges’ Choice Award, while guests will cast their ballots to select the coveted People’s Choice Award. Winning businesses and organizations will receive a commemorative plaque.
Admission is $5 and includes two ice cream tastes. Purchase additional tasting at $5 for three tastes. Each tasting ticket is split in half; one half is redeemed for a sample, while the other half becomes your vote for the People’s Choice winner.
In addition to delicious ice cream, attendees can browse a raffle featuring an assortment of items donated from local businesses and supporters. Raffle tickets are $1 each and winning tickets will be drawn around 5:15 p.m. Winners must be present to claim their prizes. The event also features music, corn-hole, and complimentary lemonade, popcorn, and water. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs.
“The Ice Cream Churn-Off is one of our favorite annual traditions,” said Board President Sara Blocker. “It’s a wonderful opportunity to bring the community together, celebrate local talent, and raise funds that help support the Ashantilly Center’s educational and preservation programs.”
Those interested in entering the competition as an ice cream maker are encouraged to sign up now.
