The front gate at FLETC was closed for part of the day yesterday due to an emailed bomb threat. Glynn County law enforcement and Camden law enforcement were called to help address the situation. By early afternoon, the facility had reopened. No word on what, if anything, was found or if anyone was detained.
Governor Brian Kemp yesterday called for a special session of the legislature to handle the issues of redistricting and the soon-to-expire laws allowing QR codes to appear on scanned ballots. The session will be held June 17th, and extend longer if necessary.
Tomorrow is the final day for early voting in Glynn County for the 2026 primaries. The polls are open from 8 to 5 today and tomorrow. All three polling locations will be open both days. In early voting, you are eligible to vote at any of the three polling places: The board of Elections Office, the Ballard Building, or Fire Station 2 on St Simons. Election Day is Tuesday May 19th and the polls will be open from 7 to 7. So far in Glynn County, 9.4% of the electorate has turned out resulting in 5786 votes cast. Of the ballots cast, 3447 of them have been Republican, while 2298 have been Democrat. Only 251 of the ballots have been sent by mail.
