Glynn County and the St. Simons Island Athletic Association (SSAA) are partnering to renovate Mallery Park.
The Glynn County Board of Commissioners approved a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) last night (Thursday, Aug. 20) with SSAA outlining the responsibilities between the two entities.
The phased renovations include the reconstruction of the three baseball fields and new batting cages in the Park.
The County is preparing the Master Plan for the improvements as well as funding and providing the engineering and design services.
SSAA will construct the project in phases based on the Master Plan and depending on available funding.
The project is being designed by Coleman and Company and construction is targeted for completion ahead of the Spring 2027 season.
Due to the constructions plans for Mallery Park, the three and four year old children are playing county soccer on the front lawn of Neptune Park.
While this is temporary, if it is well received, this may be a permanent fix for the young soccer players.
