YMCA closing

The recent news of the impending closing of the YMCA of Coastal Georgia is a devastating loss to our community. This is the only aquatic center with indoor 25 yard and 50-meter outdoor pools with 80 miles of Brunswick.

How can a community so close to the ocean allow its closure? This affects the safety of each and every child who never will learn how to swim.

It also affects all the seniors who rely on its water aerobics, gym classes, and indoor pickle ball for healthy exercise. Not to mention that many of us are dedicated lap swimmers who use the pools daily.

Where does the county & city stand on this closing? It’s the perfect opportunity for both of them to join together and make this the best recreational facility on the coast.
