Keep an open mind about data centers

Don’t be so quick to blanketly condemn ALL Data Centers being built in Glynn County! To do so is very short sighted and comes from a lack of knowledge about the huge strides in energy efficiencies that are being achieved and the economic benefits that communities can receive!

Are citizens aware that Data Center’s utility usage – water and energy-  has made trenendous strides in efficiency and improvements and that greater efficiencies are being made all the time? Are you aware that the Data Centers water systems are closed loop and that they use far less water than a golf course or many other industrial users?

Are citizens aware that NVIDIA’s newest chip is tremendously more energy efficient (“NVIDIA’s newest platform, the Vera Rubin architecture, achieves massive energy efficiency by delivering up to 10 times more performance per unit of energy!”) and that its this new chip that is being used in new data centers?

Are citizens aware that there are communities in GA that have virtually eliminated ALL PROPERTY TAXES due to the local income produced by Data Centers?

Have citizens considered that, in negotiating whether to “allow” a Data Center to be built in a community,  that its possible to negotiate that the Data Center owner/operator absorb all utility costs and then some? That they be required to make major concessions and contributions to a community before being “granted permission” by the community to build a Data Center in a community?

I would urge Glynn County citizens to be more open minded about the benefits that negotiating to bring a Data Center to Glynn County can have to our community rather than blanketly saying we don’t want them.
