The Brunswick High Pirates concluded the best season in Pirates Baseball history Friday when they were eliminated from the playoffs by Loganville, losing the opener 5-2 and dropping the nightcap 7-4. The losses snapped a 19-game win streak for the Pirates, who won more games this season than any other Pirates team in history.
Last Thursday, the Brunswick Police Department executed a search warrant in the 1800 block of Niles Avenue and found prescription drugs, marijuana, and cocaine along with various firearms. 45-year-old Brandi Simmons and 50-year-old Darion Simmons were arrested on multiple firearms and drug charges.
At approximately 4:15 p.m. Friday, deputies with the Camden County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to assist stranded motorists after a vehicle became disabled. During the incident, the call escalated into a domestic-related disturbance. One individual fled on foot, leading to a foot pursuit and altercation with a deputy. Both the deputy and the individual sustained minor injuries and were transported to the hospital for evaluation.
Early voting in Glynn County ended Friday with 8338 ballots cast, a 13 and a half percent turnout. Of those ballots, only 327 or approximately 4 percent were submitted by mail. Tomorrow the polls will be open from 7 to 7 if you haven’t voted yet. In addition to the party primaries there are several non-partisan GENERAL elections for Judiciary positions that will be decided on this ballot and not in the fall.
