Boat Participation Needed for Annual Blessing of the Fleet Boat Parade
BRUNSWICK, GA—The Downtown Brunswick community is preparing for its Annual Blessing of the Fleet on Friday, May 9, 2026, and organizers are calling on local boaters to participate in the event’s highly anticipated Boat Parade along the downtown waterfront.
With less than two weeks remaining until the celebration, participation from local shrimpers, charter captains, recreational boaters, marinas, and boat clubs is essential to ensure a strong and vibrant showing on the water. The Blessing of the Fleet is a longstanding coastal tradition that honors Brunswick’s maritime heritage and offers a ceremonial blessing for a safe and prosperous season.
“This event is rooted in our working waterfront and boating community, and we truly need their support to bring the boat parade to life,” said Mathew Hill, Executive Director with the Downtown Development Authority. “We encourage boaters to join us and be part of this meaningful tradition.”
Boaters interested in participating are encouraged to sign up as soon as possible to assist with event coordination. Community members are also invited to attend and enjoy this special celebration of Brunswick’s coastal culture.
