Glynn County Public Safety Update on Brantley County Wildfire   April 23, 2026

Glynn County, GA – Glynn County Public Safety teams remain on scene in Brantley County today as firefighters continue working to contain the large and fast‑moving wildfire near Highway 82 and 520. Crews are supporting partner agencies from across the state as suppression efforts continue.
Light winds are expected to shift from the southwest to the southeast this afternoon toward Browntown Road in Brantley County. These shifting winds may influence smoke movement, but no fire threat is near Glynn County at this time.
Air quality has improved and is generally acceptable for most individuals, though sensitive groups may still experience minor to moderate symptoms with prolonged exposure. Residents are encouraged to avoid smoke when possible and to limit time on affected roadways.
While conditions are expected to remain clear through the afternoon with breezy periods and gradually decreasing humidity, fire danger remains elevated due to ongoing drought and the expectation of little to no rainfall over the next 10 days. Given these dry conditions, Glynn County’s burn ban remains in effect, and outdoor burning and the use of personal fireworks are prohibited until further notice.
Community members wishing to support those affected by the fires are encouraged to donate through established organizations. In Brantley County, all donations are being coordinated through Georgia VOAD, which partners with groups such as the American Red Cross and The Salvation Army to ensure resources are distributed efficiently.
