Glynn County Public Safety helping with Brantley fire

Based on the latest weather forecasts, persistent dry weather and moderate shifting winds are expected to impact the area throughout today. These conditions, combined with ongoing drought, increase the likelihood of significant fire activity across the region.
Glynn County Public Safety teams remain actively engaged in supporting Brantley County as firefighters continue working to contain a large and fast-moving wildfire near Highway 82/520.
While Glynn County has not experienced direct impacts this morning, smoke from this fire, along with other regional wildfire activity, may affect visibility and air quality in portions of the county later today.
Residents are encouraged to avoid smoke exposure when possible and to avoid affected roadways if visibility becomes reduced.
The Coastal Health District recommends the following health and safety practices during periods of smoke:
The countywide burn ban continues as drought conditions persist and no significant rainfall is forecast in the coming days. The environment remains highly susceptible to fire spread, and even minor ignition sources can become hazardous.
Outdoor burning of yard debris and the use of personal fireworks are not permitted at this time.
Glynn County will continue coordinating with state and local agencies to support response operations in Brantley County over the coming days. Residents are encouraged to follow official guidance as conditions evolve and to sign up for Code Red and Text My Gov to receive timely local updates.
