Glynn and Brunswick EMAs Launch Golden Isles Business Ready Program

 

 

 

 

 

Glynn and Brunswick EMAs are launching Golden Isles Business Ready, a new voluntary, no-cost program designed to strengthen partnerships between local businesses and emergency management while helping the private sector prepare for, respond to, and recover from emergencies.

Businesses are an essential part of the Golden Isles community, and their ability to continue operating—or return to operation quickly—following a disaster can play an important role in the community’s overall recovery.

Golden Isles Business Ready will provide an opportunity for local businesses to work directly with Emergency Management to improve preparedness and business continuity before an emergency occurs.

Through the program, EMA will also gain a better understanding of the resources, services, equipment and other capabilities available within the local private sector that could potentially assist the community during an emergency.

The goals of Golden Isles Business Ready include:

• Strengthening communication and relationships between Emergency Management and the local business community.
• Helping businesses improve emergency preparedness and continuity planning.
• Creating stronger lines of communication before, during and after emergencies.
• Identifying private-sector resources and capabilities that may be available to support community response and recovery.
• Building a more resilient Golden Isles by bringing the public and private sectors together before disaster strikes.

Participation in Golden Isles Business Ready is completely voluntary and provided at no cost to participating businesses.

The program is based on a simple idea: the best time for Emergency Management and the business community to build relationships is before an emergency happens.

By developing those partnerships now, businesses can better understand how the EMA responds during emergencies, EMA can better understand the needs and capabilities of the private sector, and both can work together toward a faster and more effective recovery for the entire community.
