Hofwyl Halloween Scavenger Hunt

Hofwyl-Broadfield Plantation State Historic Site celebrates the Halloween season with its annual month-long Halloween Scavenger Hunt during October. Visitors may participate Tuesday through Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
This year’s hunt will take on a special patriotic twist as Hofwyl-Broadfield joins the celebration of America’s 250th anniversary. The clues and stops along the scavenger hunt will feature spooky stories, legends, and mysterious tales connected to the Colonial and Revolutionary War era in Coastal Georgia and the surrounding Lowcountry.
Visitors will encounter stories inspired by some of the people and events that shaped the region more than two centuries ago. Stops include Revolutionary War figures such as General Anthony Wayne and General Henry “Light-Horse Harry” Lee, the colonial settlement of Frederica, interpreter and cultural intermediary Mary Musgrove, and battles fought throughout Georgia and the Lowcountry.
Along the way, participants will discover tales of mysterious riders, haunted battlefields, ghostly soldiers, and legends that have survived long after the Revolution ended.
Pick up a scavenger hunt map at the Hofwyl-Broadfield Visitor Center and follow the instructions, locate the Halloween-themed clues placed around the site, and use their answers to uncover a secret phrase. Return the completed phrase to a Ranger at the Visitor Center to receive a goodie bag with prizes. Participants can earn an extra prize by taking a picture during their visit and sharing it with site staff.
The Halloween Scavenger Hunt is designed for the entire family and is appropriate for all ages. It offers visitors a unique opportunity to explore Hofwyl-Broadfield while learning more about the people, places, battles, and legends of Revolutionary-era Coastal Georgia and the Lowcountry as the nation commemorates the 250th anniversary of American independence.
Regular site admission applies and includes access to the museum and scheduled plantation house tours.
