Coastal Symphony’s 2026-2027 line up
The Coastal Symphony of Georgia’s (CSG) 2026–2027 concert season features four programs spanning Holst and John Williams, a world premiere by Golden Isles native Elizabeth Kelly, Philip Glass’s “American Four Seasons,” and a season-closing performance of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9. The season marks the orchestra’s first in its new home at the Center for the Arts.
“We are thrilled to finally be performing in the Center for the Arts, and aim to take full advantage of all that space has to offer acoustically this season,” said Michelle Merrill, CSG Conductor and Music Director. “This is a season not to be missed, and I cannot wait to see you there!”
2026–2027 SEASON SCHEDULE
Oct 5, 2026 — Of Planets and Stars Far, Far Away: John Williams’ Star Wars meets Holst’s The Planets — orchestral power and cinematic adventure in one night.
Nov 17, 2026 — Sea, Land, and Victory: Wagner’s Flying Dutchman Overture, the world premiere of Elizabeth Kelly’s Coastal Concerto, and Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 5.
Feb 15, 2027 — Seasons of Sound: From Mozart to Glass: Philip Glass’s Violin Concerto No. 2 alongside Mozart’s Symphony No. 41 — old and new, side by side.
Apr 12, 2027 — Beethoven’s Ninth: CSG closes the season with Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 — a piece that has a way of staying with you long after the last note.
November’s program includes the world premiere of Coastal Concerto by composer Elizabeth Kelly, whose family resides in the Golden Isles and previously partnered with CSG to teach music composition to Glynn County schoolchildren. The piece will feature CSG’s own James Jenkins on tuba.
February’s program brings internationally acclaimed violinist Yevgeny Kutik to the stage for Glass’s Violin Concerto No. 2. The season concludes in April with Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, performed with four vocal soloists and full chorus.
