On Monday a boater with children on board ran into a host of problems while out trying to enjoy the holiday on Turtle River. The boater found what appeared to be a dead body on the water. As he was reporting his discovery, the boat began taking on water due to the rough conditions. A Brunswick Police Officer on Marine Patrol took the passengers onto his boat and got them to safety. The DNR was called in to recover the body. No word on the identity of the deceased or the cause of death.

Atlanta Braves legend Bob Horner has died. Horner built a career out of being first. He was the first overall pick in the 1978 draft, he was the first Braves draftee to skip the minor leagues and debut directly in the majors. And he was the first Atlanta player to ever hit four home runs in a single game when he did so against the Montreal Expos in 1986. Horner was the National League Rookie of the Year in 1978 and an All-Star in 1982. Horner is the third Braves legend to pass in the last several weeks along with former manager Bobby Cox and former owner Ted Turner.

With the Georgia Bulldogs taking the 3rd seed in the NCAA baseball postseason bracket and the Georgia Tech Yellowjackets checking in as the number two team, there is now a possibility that the two teams could meet up in the college World Series. It’s only over happened once before, in 2006. Both teams will start the postseason regionals at home on Friday.
