Voluntary Evacuations Lifted as Conditions Improve in Glynn County Friday May 1, 2026

Glynn County, GA – A combination of improving weather conditions and current fire behavior has reduced the immediate threat to Glynn County. Based on updated assessments, Glynn County is rescinding all voluntary evacuation notices for previously affected areas.
The wildfire is now estimated at 22,532 acres and is 37 percent contained. Crews are making steady progress in strengthening containment lines, and Glynn County Public Safety teams remain actively engaged in supporting neighboring communities that continue to be impacted.
Highway 32 between Highway 301 and Highway 99 remains closed. Residents are urged to avoid the area so emergency personnel can operate safely. Additional closures may be implemented if conditions change.
Even with improving conditions, wildfire behavior remains unpredictable. Changes in humidity, wind, or temperature can cause heat to reemerge and increase fire activity. A wildfire is not considered out until it is fully extinguished, and residents should remain mindful of how quickly conditions can evolve.
As a reminder, Glynn County remains under a local burn ban. Outdoor burning and the use of personal fireworks are prohibited, and citations will be issued to anyone who violates this order.
Residents are encouraged to remain vigilant and stay informed. Visit www.glynncounty.org/wildfires for updates. To receive emergency alerts directly to your phone, text GLYNN to 24639 for CodeRED and GLYNN to 80946 for Text My Gov.
Glynn County will continue coordinating with state and local partners and will provide additional updates as needed.
