Driftwood Drive Beach Access to close for Boardwalk Construction

The Driftwood Drive beach access on St. Simons Island will be closed temporarily  beginning at 8:00 a.m. April 15. It will remain closed through the end of July.

A new pedestrian beach access boardwalk  from the end of Driftwood Drive to the beachfront will be constructed. The new structure is  designed to accommodate ongoing dune growth and protection and help reduce the impact of foot traffic on the coastal environment.

During the closure the public can use alternate beach access points in the surrounding area.
