Coastal Georgia Area Community Action Authority Helps Shape Statewide Efforts to Strengthen Georgia Communities
For Coastal Georgia Area Community Action Authority, Inc.(CGACAA), serving families extends well beyond county lines.
As a member of the Georgia Community Action Association (GCAA), CGACAA plays an active role in helping strengthen Georgia’s statewide Community Action network. The collaboration allows local agencies to share ideas, develop innovative solutions and advocate for the resources families need to build stronger futures.
That partnership will be on display July 14-17 when Community Action leaders from across the state gather in Savannah for GCAA’s 58th Annual Training and Technical Assistance Conference.
The conference represents one of the many ways Georgia’s Community Action network works together to improve programs and services that directly benefit communities throughout the state.
For nearly 60 years, CGACAA has served Bryan, Camden, Glynn, Liberty and McIntosh counties through programs that include Head Start and Early Head Start, Weatherization, LIHEAP, senior services and family development initiatives.
Membership in GCAA provides access to professional development, technical expertise, statewide advocacy and a network of peers committed to helping families achieve long-term stability and self-sufficiency.
“Community Action has never been about one agency working alone,” said Tres Hamilton, Chief Executive Officer of Coastal Georgia Area Community Action Authority, Inc. “Our greatest strength comes from working together, learning from one another and sharing ideas that help families across Georgia. Through GCAA, we’re able to bring new knowledge, stronger partnerships and a broader perspective back to Coastal Georgia so we can continue providing the highest level of service to the communities we call home.”
Hamilton said serving on the GCAA Board of Directors also gives Coastal Georgia a voice in statewide conversations surrounding Community Action, allowing the agency to help shape initiatives, advocate for local needs and support policies that strengthen families throughout Georgia.
Throughout the conference, CGACAA staff will participate in leadership sessions, technical training and collaborative discussions focused on strengthening organizations, improving service delivery and building partnerships that create lasting community impact.
Those experiences help the agency continually evaluate programs, identify emerging best practices and return home with practical ideas that enhance services for local families.
“Every community has unique challenges, but many of the solutions are discovered when organizations come together with a shared purpose,” Hamilton said.
“That’s what Community Action has always been about, neighbors helping neighbors, communities helping communities, and working together to create opportunities that change lives.”
As Community Action Agencies continue adapting to the evolving needs of Georgia families, CGACAA remains committed to ensuring Coastal Georgia benefits from the innovation, collaboration and advocacy that come from being part of a strong statewide network.
