A company called ReadytoRegister has sent voter registration applications to all cancelled voters and then voters who haven’t voted in years using an extremely outdated voter list according to the Georgia Secretary of State.
The problem is 90% of our cancelled voters are deceased. Many of the rest have moved.
It’s actually quite hard to live here and not be registered to vote.
It is trying to collect your personal info and “they’ll pass it along” to the authorities. Giving third-party groups information to register you to vote is at best putting you on a call/text/mail list and at worst a pathway to identity fraud.
Anyway, the voters of Georgia are having an overwhelmingly negative reaction because everyone’s dead grandfather is getting and application and people who’ve moved away years ago are getting them at the new homeowner’s mailbox.
As we head into November, voters need to be aware of the literally thousands of organizations out there using bad and sometimes purposefully wrong lists to cause panic and other agencies “helping” by collecting your information.
Our office/website or the My Voter Page are the only true source of checking/changing your voter registration, finding poll locations, and getting voting dates/times.
There is also a fraudulent My Voter Page out there, so voters should look for the “.gov” at the end of the email.
