Last night on a four to three vote the Islands Planning Commission voted to rezone a residential lot to allow a medical clinic in a St Simons Island subdivision. If approved by the Glynn county board of commissioners the clinic would be located at 104 general Oglethorpe in the Sea palms West subdivision. 

The Georgia legislature’s special session ended yesterday with no redistricting, but a plan in place to allow votes to be legally counted in the fall. It looks like the QR codes will be consistent with state law until January 1, 2028, so essentially, you’ll experience no changes when you vote in November.

Glynn County’s plans for America’s 250th birthday are shaping up to be huge. The festivities start on the 4th at 1 pm at Neptune Park, where there will be numerous activities, music, and food. At the Casino Building the Lego Batman Movie will be show at 1, 3, and 5. There will be a dunk tank featuring county commissioners and public safety staff. Music will start at 1 pm on 3 different stages. An enhanced fireworks show will start at 9 with more music after the fireworks.

A person died Friday afternoon after crashing on Highway 32, when a driver lost control of a Jeep Cherokee, which spun and was hit by an F150 traveling in the opposite direction. The F150 also spun after making contact. The driver of the Jeep died from injuries sustained in the crash. The passengers in the truck, including two children, were transported with life-threatening injuries.
