A large crowd welcomed gathered at the Brunswick Golden Isles Airport to welcome home the veterans who participated in this year’s Golden Isles Honor Flight, along with their Guardians. Honor Flight makes a daylong trip to DC each year so veterans can see firsthand the memorials made to honor the sacrifices made in the conflicts in which they fought. The Georgia Bulldogs handily beat Texas Saturday night 7-1. That sets up a showdown with Oklahoma tonight at 6 on ESPN. Oklahoma beat Alabama 9-0 Saturday.
Polls open tomorrow morning at 7 for the runoff election. They’ll remain open until 7pm. Glynn County’s turnout in early voting was 8.6%, above the statewide average of 6.6%. Brantley turned out 7.4%, Camden had a 4.9% turnout, while McIntosh set the standard by bringing 14.4% percent of registered voters out for early voting, third in the state behind only Taliaferro and Butts Counties.
In a late election twist, last evening Governor Brian Kemp endorsed Lt Governor Burt Jones. Both Jones and his runoff competitor Rick Jackson had been vying for the endorsement and courting Kemp’s supporters.
