Today is the final day for early voting in the primary runoff elections. The polls will be open from eight to five today, and then closed until Election Day on Tuesday, where polling will take place all across the county from 7 until 7. There are six races on the Republican ballot and five on the Democrat ballot. If you voted on one party’s ballot in the primary, you must vote on the same party’s ballot. If you voted non-partisan in the primary, you may choose which party’s ballot you vote on, and if you did not vote in the primaries, you may vote in the runoff.  You get to choose which party’s ballot you vote on.

 

After a recent study on contaminants in the bloodstream of local citizens, the National Institutes of Environmental Health have announced a 15 million dollar grant to Emory University to open Georgia’s first Superfund Research Center in Brunswick. Brunswick is the home of 4 of the state’s 24 Superfund Sites.

 

Sidewalk work continues on Demere Road today that will necessitate a lane shift from 8 until 5. There won’t be any stoppages, but pay attention to signs.

The College World Series starts today in Omaha, and the Georgia Bulldogs are the top remaining seed going into the series. They’ll open tomorrow night against number 6 Texas, the second-highest remaining seed. First pitch is at 8 tomorrow night on ESPN.
